Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and We Love Media Inc. (“We Love Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the operator of the Hi Friend mobile application and related services (together, the “Service”).
Hi Friend is a voice-first service that helps people discover and connect with others through short audio introductions, voice messages, and related voice-based features.
By creating an account, accessing the Service, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use Hi Friend. By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and that you are legally able to agree to these Terms.
If you are at least 16 but under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
If we learn or reasonably believe that you are under 16, we may suspend or delete your account.
2. Your Account
Hi Friend currently uses Sign in with Apple for account creation and authentication. You are responsible for maintaining the security of the Apple ID and device you use to access the Service.
You may not share your account, impersonate another person, create an account using false information, or use another person’s account without permission.
3. What Hi Friend Provides
Hi Friend allows users to record and listen to short voice introductions, exchange voice messages, and use other voice-based features that we may make available from time to time.
Hi Friend is designed to support private, low-pressure, voice-first connection. However, we cannot guarantee that other users will act honestly, safely, or respectfully, and we cannot guarantee that anything you say or share through the Service will remain confidential.
Use care when sharing personal information. Do not share information such as your address, financial information, passwords, private identification numbers, or anything else you would not want another person to know.
4. Your Audio and Content
You are responsible for the audio, voice messages, profile information, and other content you submit through the Service (“User Content”).
You keep ownership of your User Content. By submitting User Content through Hi Friend, you give We Love Media a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, play, process, moderate, and display your User Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, provide, protect, improve, and support the Service.
This license ends when your User Content is deleted from the Service, except to the extent that continued retention or processing is reasonably necessary for safety, moderation, legal compliance, backup, dispute resolution, or because the content has already been shared with another user and remains available to them.
You represent that you have the rights needed to submit your User Content and that your User Content does not violate the rights of any other person.
5. Reports, Moderation, and Enforcement
Hi Friend allows users to report profiles, nicknames, audio introductions, voice messages, conversations, and other activity that they believe violates these Terms or the safety of the Service.
Reports may include concerns about harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, threats, impersonation, offensive or inappropriate content, sharing personal information without consent, sexually explicit content, non-consensual intimate content, graphic violence, self-harm or suicide content, spam, scams, phishing, requests for money, illegal or regulated goods, underage users, or other harmful behaviour.
When a report is submitted, or when we otherwise detect concerning activity, we may review the reported content and related account activity — including profile information, nicknames, audio introductions, voice messages, conversation activity, account information, device or technical information, and prior reports — as reasonably necessary to evaluate the report, enforce these Terms, protect users, and operate the Service.
Audio introductions, voice messages, and related content may be automatically transcribed, analyzed, or scanned using artificial intelligence or other automated systems to help identify content that may be offensive, unsafe, unlawful, or contrary to these Terms. Automated systems may flag content or account activity for further review or moderation action.
We may use automated systems, human review, or both to review flagged or reported content, assess potential violations, and help protect users, Hi Friend, and the public. Automated assessments may be incomplete or incorrect, and we may consider additional information before taking enforcement action or when reviewing a previous decision.
After reviewing a report or detecting concerning activity, we may take action including dismissing the report, warning a user, removing content, limiting features, blocking interactions, suspending an account, terminating an account, preserving relevant records, or reporting serious threats, exploitation, imminent harm, or illegal conduct to appropriate authorities where required or appropriate. We may take such action if we reasonably believe that a user has violated these Terms, misused the Service, created a safety risk, or exposed Hi Friend, other users, or the public to legal or operational risk.
We are not required to disclose the outcome of a report to the person who submitted it or to the reported user, and we may take or decline to take action at our discretion, subject to applicable law.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You agree to use Hi Friend respectfully, safely, and lawfully. In particular, you agree not to:
- harass, threaten, abuse, stalk, shame, exploit, or intimidate another user;
- submit hate speech or content attacking people based on protected or personal characteristics;
- submit sexually explicit, sexually exploitative, or non-consensual intimate content;
- pressure another user for sexual, romantic, financial, personal, or identifying information;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are;
- record, copy, distribute, or publish another user’s audio outside the Service without their consent;
- buy, sell, advertise, or solicit illegal or regulated goods or services;
- use the Service for spam, advertising, scams, or commercial solicitation;
- attempt to access accounts, systems, data, or areas of the Service without authorization;
- interfere with, disrupt, reverse engineer, scrape, overload, or abuse the Service;
- upload or transmit malware, harmful code, or other malicious material;
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
7. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information. By using Hi Friend, you agree that we may handle your information as described in the Privacy Policy.
Because Hi Friend is a voice-based service, your voice, recordings, messages, reports, moderation activity, and account activity may be processed as part of operating, protecting, and improving the Service.
Reports and moderation records may be retained for safety, enforcement, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and abuse prevention, even if the underlying account or content is later deleted.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service may depend on third-party services, including Apple and cloud infrastructure providers. Your use of those services may also be subject to their own terms and policies.
We are not responsible for third-party services, websites, content, or conduct that we do not control.
9. Suspension and Termination
You may stop using Hi Friend at any time.
We may suspend, restrict, ban, or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe that you have violated these Terms, created risk for another user, misused the Service, interfered with the Service, or exposed Hi Friend, We Love Media, other users, or the public to harm, liability, legal risk, or operational risk.
We may also suspend, restrict, or terminate access where necessary to protect the Service, comply with law, respond to legal process, prevent abuse, investigate safety concerns, or discontinue all or part of the Service.
We may also suspend, restrict, ban, or terminate any account at any time, with or without notice, and for any reason or no reason, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
Termination may result in loss of access to your account and User Content.
10. Ownership of the Service
We Love Media and its licensors own the Service, including its software, design, systems, trademarks, logos, text, graphics, and other materials, excluding User Content.
You may use the Service only for your personal, non-commercial use and only in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, lease, reverse engineer, or exploit any part of the Service except as permitted by law or with our written permission.
11. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, security, accuracy, and reliability.
We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or free from harmful content or conduct.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, We Love Media and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, data, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
13. Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless We Love Media and its directors, officers, employees, contractors, agents, and service providers from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from or related to your use of the Service, your User Content, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of another person’s rights.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we may notify you through the Service or by other reasonable means.
Your continued use of the Service after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service.
15. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute arising from or related to the Service are governed by the laws of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada applicable in British Columbia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Subject to any rights you may have under applicable consumer protection laws, you agree that disputes will be resolved by the courts located in British Columbia, Canada.
